This skill
explean us that answer most of the time is going to appear in the second voice
or in the second speaker, so we must be ready to understand at least the second
line.
Example:
(Man) That exam
was just awful.
(Woman) Oh, it
could have been worse.
(Narrator) What
does the woman mean?
POSSIBLE
ANSWER:
A. The exam was really awful.
B. It was worst exam she had ever seen.
C. It could not have been more difficult
D. It was not that hard.
We learn from
the conversation that the man thought the exam was very difficult and the woman
disagreed with the man. The best answer to the question, “What does the woman
mean?” is D, “it was not that hard.” Thus, the correct choice is (D).
